What’s your name?
What do you do?
I'm the Director / Owner at Emily & Jack’s children’s fashion boutique
Why did you start your venture?
After working as a Buyer travelling a lot, I took some time out. At that time we noticed our daughter was having regular absence seizures, to then be diagnosed with Childhood Absence Epilepsy, so I decided it was perfect timing to do something that gave me a better life balance and without the commute to London every day. So I started an online shop with girlswear at first, working at home. Then I found a shop in a part of Sevenoaks along with other boutique shops, which enabled me to carry on the online store, as well as adding clothes for boys and babies.
What do you want people to know about you?
I have over 20 years of experience in Buying. I am a Mum with 1 daughter (Emily, aged 9), and a nephew (Jack). I also live in the local area. Emily & Jack’s is a childrenswear boutique and we specialise in sourcing emerging brands, organic and also baby gifting.
What are your aims?
To build a lifestyle kidswear brand that introduces new and emerging brands and offers a point of difference from the rest of the high street.
I am also passionate about raising awareness for young epilepsy. ‘Purple Day’ is an international epilepsy awareness day, and this year it is being held on the 26th March. To read more, to get involved, or to donate, visit www.purpleday.org
